AURORA™ steel

AURORA™ steel is a new product developed by BlueScope Steel China. It has high color durability, and a level of corrosion resistant performance that can outlast prepainted galvanized steel.

Good quality and durability

Metallic alloy coating
The good corrosion resistance of AURORA™ steel is a result of the unique aluminum/zinc metallic alloy coating comprised of 55% aluminum, 43.5% zinc, and 1.5% silicon. Extensive testing in a variety of environments has shown that this aluminum/zinc alloy coating has superior corrosion resistance, especially in comparison to prepainted galvanized steel.

Good corrosion resistance
The substrate of AURORA™ steel is AZ100 aluminum zinc steel which is 100 grams per square meter of 55% aluminum/zinc metallic alloy coating.

Good Color Retention
AURORA™ steel offers high resistance to color fading due to the use of a high durable polyester paint system, including the use of a specially designed primer for added performance.

Preferred substrates:
Substrates:	ZINCALUME^® AZ150 G300/G550 steel (Zinc/Aluminum alloy-coated steel). ZINCALUME G550 AZ150 steel (Zinc/Aluminum alloy-coated steel)
Pretreatment:	Corrosion resistant proprietary conversion coating.
Primer Coat:	Polyurethane corrosion inhibitive primer. Nominal thickness 5μm each side.
Finish Coat:	Kynar^® 500 / Hylar^® 5000 PVDF paint system with inorganic pigments. Nominal film thickness 20μm.
Backing Coat:	Polyester backing coat Shadow Grey. Foam Grey for sandwich panel. Nominal film thickness 5μm.
Color:	A range of standard colors is available. Other specially required colors may be available on request.
Gloss:	Nominal 25% (60°).
